The Secret is a DVD about the Law of Attraction. I was a big believer of the law of attraction before viewing the movie. I’d read countless books on the subject, to the point that it felt like I was doing too much reading and not enough practicing of the Law. I really enjoyed this DVD because hearing and viewing people’s success stories with the law of attraction motivated me to renew my own personal efforts. It often helps to hear a message from several different mediums and voices and watching the Secret helped me think of how I manifest things in my life from a new angle.
The Law of Attraction states that like attracts like. What you think and believe to be true becomes your reality over time. Your dominant thoughts are energetic creations that cause things to happen in your life. Looking back over my life, I can point to a couple of significant situations where this occurred.
- Becoming a stock trader. I watched the movie Wall Street back in Maine in 1987. After viewing that, my sole goal in life was to become a stock trader. I pictured it in my mind, and truly believed that I was going to be a trader. It is interesting to see the events that end up taking place once you have a belief in your head. I started an investing club in high school. I majored in finance. I refused to take a “real” job with anyone after college. And then one day, while on a traveling college marketing job in Daytona Beachfor spring break, my friends are taking too long in the gym so I grab the paper. I happen to see a classified ad for assistant stock traders in Orlando, Florida and end up getting the job.
- Becoming an intranet manager at Motorola. After getting bored with stock trading and obsessed with the internet, I browsed to computerjobs.net and would constantly read and visualize having one of the well-paying database administrator jobs. I had created databases back in 1984 for mailing lists but thought they were boring and besides, who would ever pay for such a simple skill! Times had obviously changed. One community college class, a couple of books I read, and a few practice websites later, I had a contract at Motorola which lead to me eventually managing IT projects and traveling the globe.
- Getting divorced. My marriage was on the rocks. I am a resolute believer in free thought and will. Rather than thinking that my wife needs to change this and that, I started firmly picturing how I wanted to feel in a marriage, without focusing on who I was feeling it with. The more I would think like this, the less my ex and I could communicate until the situation totally dissolved.
Las Vegas fall 2006. Using The Secret consciously, I was able to win $2500. This gets its own post next week.
- The first time I laid eyes on my girlfriend, I knew we would have a torrid affair. This didn't happen in a cocky "I am the man" way. I had never felt like this before. My mind was just completely, immediately, 100% convinced that I would be with her. It rattled me, since I had been single for quite some time upon meeting her, I did my best to stay away from her the first night meeting her. Of course, my mind didn't get all the facts straight...the "affair" turned into a relationship that is still going. No complaints on that!
I also find the law of attraction works in smaller ways. I tend to be very very positive in my daily activities, and things usually go my way. I try to see the best aspects of people that I meet and know, and then I tend to receive their best qualities in return. I think the Secret is a great DVD and mandatory viewing for any one that wants their life to get better. You can buy the DVD at Amazon
