Changing My Subconscious Belief - Best-Selling Writer
A difficult thing about subconscious beliefs is they aren’t at the conscious level in your brain. So determining that the subconscious belief exists, and it is one that is no longer serving you, is not easy. My approach is to look in my life at what I have not been able to change. Since life is a conscious act of creation, if there is something I want to change and I haven’t succeeded, my subconscious beliefs are likely to be the culprit.
A logic-based approach satisfies the rational conscious mind. You are choosing facts that you believe to reach an irrefutable logic based conclusion. Gregg Braden’s book presents a process for re-programming your subconscious. I am going to apply it now to program my subconscious.
The belief I’ve chosen to reprogram is that I am a best-selling author. I currently am not a best-selling author, but want to be one. If you take a glance at the rest of this blog, you’ll see it is not for lack of material! My conclusion is that something is blocking me from completing the book and getting it onto the next step of being a best-seller.
Gregg Braden’s Personal Logic Re-Programming Process Template:
Key 1: State how you feel regarding your desired outcome as if it has already happened. For your own clarity, it’s important to do this in one concise, brief sentence.
Scott: I feel excited, thrilled, and limitless by my book “How I Made This Book a Best-Seller” appearing on the New York Times Best-Selling List.
Key 2: State which passion you are choosing to express.
Scott: I have a passion to experience the world and express it to others through writing.
Key 3: State the limiting belief(s) that you have about yourself and/or filling your need.
Scott: My limiting belief is that the time I spend on writing the book will be wasted if it does not succeed.
Scott: My limiting belief is that I will miss out on a lot of fun activities while writing the book.
Scott: My limiting belief is that no one will want to publish the book.
Key 4: State the opposite of your limiting belief(s).
Scott: The time I spend on writing the book is the best way I can spend my time.
Scott: Fun activities are always available.
Scott: Publishers want to publish the book.
Key 5: State when you feel most fulfilled in life. This will become your goal.
Scott: I feel most fulfilled in life when I am writing something entertaining and valuable.
Key 6: State the inarguable fact(s) that support your goal.
Scott: It is a fact that the law of attraction and self-help industries are booming.
Scott: It is a fact that my book idea would fill a gap in those industries.
Scott: It is a fact that I have already written half the book based on my personal development blog posts.
Scott: It is a fact that I have had repeated confirmation that I have the skills to be a writer.
Now, using the answers to the 6 keys above, you re-arrange them into a template for re-programming your subconscious.
Logic Statement Key Number
If: 2
And: 5
And: 6
Then it makes sense that: 4
And I have all that I need to bring my dream to life.
So my subconscious reprogramming for writing a best-selling book reads as follows-
If: I have a passion to experience the world and express with others through writing.
And: I feel most fulfilled in life when I am writing something entertaining and valuable.
And: It is a fact that the law of attraction and self-help industries are booming.
And: It is a fact that my book idea would fill a gap in those industries.
And: It is a fact that I have already written half the book based on my personal development blog posts.
Then: It makes sense that the time I spend on writing the book is the best way I can spend my time, fun activities are always available, and publishers want to publish the book.
And I have all that I need to bring my dream of becoming a best-selling author to life.
That all sounds great. I look forward to reading blog updates on your progress.
